We often think of sangria as being a summertime libation. I can just imagine relaxing in the backyard, surrounded by some friends and sipping some lovely sangria. Typically, sangria is a Spanish drink of red wine and fruits. And it’s delicious and oh so easy to make. But did you know you can make it with white wine? You can and you should!
Normally, I’m all about the red. But this past New Year’s Eve I had a hankering for something white and sparkly and not champagne. This is where the Winter White Sparkling Sangria was born. And boy oh boy, was it delicious! Give it a try, you’ll like it!
Winter White Sparkling Sangria
1 bottle white wine (really whatever type you like)
1 bottle Prosecco – *you can substitute a Sparkling Apple Juice if you’d like to cut down on the alcohol
2 mandarins or 1 orange
2/3 frozen cranberries
5-8 Sprigs of fresh rosemary (about 3 inches each)
That’s it. Only 5 ingredients and you are on your way!
Slice the oranges
Rinse the Rosemary
Combine everything and enjoy! Delicious!
*you can make this glass by glass or use a pitcher. Just remember to keep the wine and the prosecco (or sparkling apple juice) the same amount 50/50. Throw in the amount of orange, cranberries, and rosemary you’d like and you are good to go. Remember to keep your cranberries frozen so they help keep the drink cold.
